Syria is studying the possibility of joining the Mecca Defence Pact, formed by Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkey, according to Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani, who made the announcement on Saturday in Bahrain. Speaking at the annual Manama Dialogue forum in the Bahraini capital, Shaibani said that discussions are currently under way to assess Syria's entry into the Mecca Defence Pact.
